VW Crafter FWD dimensions from MWB to LWB Maxi
Compare four Mk2 FWD panel-van references from the recorded April 2026 UK brochure: MWB low roof, MWB high roof, LWB high roof and LWB Maxi high roof. CR30/35 and CR35 dimensional groups stay separate from unlisted derivatives.
Compare the supported body sizes
All dimensions below are in millimetres. Cargo widths and heights are published maxima for an unconverted reference, before insulation, lining or furniture. Match the body, drivetrain and source edition to your vehicle.
On a narrow screen, scroll the table sideways to compare every measurement. The side-door column gives the nominal opening width × height, rather than its position along the van.

The editable wall and roof contours, wheel-arch shapes and door positions are reconstructed planning estimates. These references are not manufacturer CAD or a measured survey of your van. Check the actual vehicle before cutting or ordering parts.
- These rows use FWD cargo heights. The cited brochure gives RWD and 4MOTION derivatives a floor raised by 100 mm and correspondingly lower internal height; those derivatives are not represented by these templates.
- Lengths are maximum cargo-floor lengths. The brochure also lists shorter minimum lengths of 3,201 mm for MWB, 4,051 mm for LWB and 4,606 mm for Maxi. Do not treat the maximum as a clear length at every height.
- CR50 twin-wheel derivatives have a different arch gap and are excluded. These four rows do not cover every roof or establish current availability.
- The planner uses a generic editable wall and roof profile, with estimated wheel-arch positions, lengths and heights. These are not traced manufacturer contours, body-rib maps or measurements of your vehicle.
Decide where the extra length is useful
The listed floor lengths rise from 3,450 mm for MWB to 4,300 mm for LWB and 4,855 mm for Maxi. LWB and Maxi share the 4,490 mm wheelbase. Their additional rear length should be reviewed against the actual rear access, storage and axle positions rather than scaling every item in a shorter layout.
Compare a fixed bed with rear storage against a bed that returns floor space during the day. Place bulky belongings and the equipment you intend to carry early, then check the remaining kitchen and seating space. A longer reference only helps when its space supports the way you will use the van.
Use the FWD height and the shorter upper length
The MWB low-roof reference lists 1,726 mm nominal cargo height; the included high-roof references list 1,961 mm. Allow for floor and roof materials before checking the person, mattress or cupboard that will use that height. Changing the name to RWD does not make an FWD reference dimensionally suitable.
The editor includes an estimated front return from the longer floor length to the shorter published upper length. Its transition is a simple planning shape, not a surveyed bulkhead. Measure the local front wall and roof where tall furniture or an overhead unit is proposed.
Check access with all the systems visible
The table's side-door maximum does not establish the exact doorway position, seals or travel path. Keep the entrance clear while placing a kitchen, tall cabinet or bed. Check how a large item will enter the actual vehicle before assembling it outside.
Use the electrical, plumbing and insulation layers with the same furniture arrangement. Reserve room for tank connections, controls and maintenance, then use surface measurements to record clearances to recheck on the vehicle. Generic contours remain adjustable planning boundaries.

A few useful answers.
Can I use these Crafter dimensions for RWD or 4MOTION?
The included templates use FWD heights. Volkswagen's cited brochure gives RWD and 4MOTION a 100 mm higher floor. Choose a reference that matches the vehicle rather than applying these FWD values unchanged.
Is Crafter LWB Maxi longer because of a different wheelbase?
The listed LWB and Maxi share a 4,490 mm wheelbase. Their nominal cargo-floor lengths are 4,300 mm and 4,855 mm respectively; the extra body length does not move every feature proportionally.
