Citroën Relay internal dimensions at a glance

Nominal unlined cargo measurements from Citroën's UK March 2022 MY22.5 specification. Match the body code and source edition to your van.

How wide is it inside?

1,870 mm maximum cargo width, with 1,422 mm clear between the wheel arches. The width at bed or cupboard height needs measuring separately.

How long is the cargo area?

  • L1: 2,670 mm floor length
  • L2: 3,120 mm floor length
  • L3: 3,705 mm floor length
  • L4: 4,070 mm floor length

How high is it inside?

  • H1: 1,662 mm maximum cargo height
  • H2: 1,932 mm maximum cargo height
  • H3: 2,172 mm maximum cargo height

Floor and roof build-ups reduce finished headroom.

These are internal load-space dimensions. They do not give the vehicle's exterior length, overall height or width with mirrors. Maximum width, floor length and height do not describe an unobstructed rectangular room.

Compare the supported body sizes

All dimensions below are in millimetres. Cargo widths and heights are published maxima for an unconverted reference, before insulation, lining or furniture. Match the body, drivetrain and source edition to your vehicle.

On a narrow screen, scroll the table sideways to compare every measurement. The side-door column gives the nominal opening width × height, rather than its position along the van.

Dimension source: Citroën Relay UK March 2022 MY22.5, dimensions: PDF page 47. Manufacturer technical section in a dealer-hosted PDF bundle. The March 2022 edition starts on PDF page 33; the selected diesel derivatives are on page 36. These older reference editions do not establish current ordering availability.

Give the L1 doorway its own layout check

The L1H1 reference has a narrower side-door opening than the longer bodies. Do not copy a kitchen and entrance arrangement between sizes without checking how you will step in, turn and use storage near the doorway.

The shorter van may mean more furniture shares a footprint between daytime and sleeping use. Compare a folding or extending bed with a fixed platform, keeping bedding storage and the changeover area in the plan.

Choose the roof after allowing for the finished floor

Set floor and roof build-ups before judging headroom or the height of a wardrobe. The H2 and H3 references offer different nominal heights; the higher roof does not mean every door opening rises by the same amount. Use the table and check the actual opening where a tall item will be loaded.

Bring tanks, electrical equipment and their routes into the same layout before treating all bench or under-bed volume as luggage space. Leave controls, cassette removal and routine maintenance reachable.

Keep the Relay reference distinct from its platform relatives

The Relay shares a body family with the Ducato and Boxer, but these records come from Citroën's own dimensional matrix. The wireframe and inner contours are reconstructed planning references. Measure arches, local wall widths and door mechanisms on the actual Relay before cutting furniture or choosing a tightly fitted product.

Before you begin

A few useful answers.

Does Van Design include a Citroën Relay L4H3?

Yes. The March 2022 MY22.5 L4H3 reference lists 4,070 mm cargo length, 1,870 mm maximum cargo width, 2,172 mm cargo height and 1,422 mm between arches. It uses the 4,035 mm wheelbase and a selected 35 Heavy manual diesel derivative.

Is the Relay L1H1 side door the same width as L2 or L3?

The cited matrix lists a 1,075 mm side-door opening width for L1H1 and 1,250 mm for the listed longer panel vans. Plan the entrance against the actual vehicle, including steps, seals and mechanisms.
